Hey bartenders, I was wondering what special touches do you put in your Bloody Mary mix?

Mine is as follows: (I call it a Bloody Miriam)

few splashes of Worsteshire Sauce
splash of A-1
couple of shakes of Taptillo
dab of horseradish
two squeezes of lemon
one squeeze of lime
celery salt
pepper
splash of OJ
splash of Bass Ale
Tomato juice'

Experimenting with Kahlua

I'm trying my hand at a home made kahlua (vodka base, so no it's not moonshine lol).  It's supposed to be ready this week (after 3 weeks of fermenting), but we'll see.  I did 2 partially-filled quart jars of it, but yesterday it was still so light that I dumped more coffee grounds in one of the jars.  It'll be interesting, to say the least.  If it turns out decent, I'll be posting the recipe.  Nice thing is the recipe can be adjusted to taste (as in, if you love the coffee flavor like I do, add extra coffee grounds).

I haven't tried this one yet, but a co-worker sent it to me and it looks delicious!

6 oz of pomegranate juice,  ( more or less depending on personal taste )

3 to 4 shots of Citrus Vodka    ( more or less depending on personal taste )  ( Absolute Citrus works well )

1 to 2 shots of Cointreau  ( again, depending on taste )

Squeeze a few drops of lime juice in the bottom of the Martini glass. ( Rubbing a lime around the glass rim is another option).

Shake it all up with Ice, then strain the ice if you don't have a shaker.

I've been a bit poor lately and ran out of rum and discovered brandy goes well with pepsi lol.  It almost has the same taste, surprisingly.

I also received two wonder little jars of liquid goodies from a co-worker.  Homemade kahlua (even better than the original) and something called apple pie (another yummy alchoholic concoction).  If she divulges her recipes, I will be posting them!

I thought I'd post a drink recipe that was created in honour of my friend _katieboo_

Katieboo

3 msrs. cranberry juice
1 msr. Chambord
1 msr. Norsk vodka
1/2 msr. Blue Curacao

Shake these ingredients together with ice, then strain into a highball glass. Top up with 7 Up, Sprite, or lemonade, stirring with a plastic or glass stirrer (don't use metal with fizzy drinks).

Colour: Murky purple.

Flavour: Berries with a hint of honey and citrus. I recommend this to anyone who doesn't like alcohol flavours

Felt like posting an old, but possibly original drink

The Celtic Cross

1 part Scotch - I usually use a cheap yet tasty highland, but anything will work.
2 parts Bailey's Irish Cream

You can go as high as one to one and it still tastes great.

technically this isn't a drink. and yes, i know I haven't updated in forever.

1 package Cajun Andouille sausage
1 sixpack of good mexican beer (a pilsner works best)
a Lime
2 Tsp cumin
1 Bay leaf
1/2 Tsp salt
5 cloves garlic, minced

cooked pasta
pasta sauce

combine the juice of the lime, the garlic, the bay leaf, salt and cumin in a mortar and pestle. Bruise the bay leaf and work it until it's a paste.

Chop the andouille into thin slices (1/4 inch or so) and toss with the paste in a bag.

heat oil in a pan

throw the andouille into the pan, and sear LIGHTLY. throw in half a bottle of beer, and drink the rest. cook for one minute

turn the pan to a simmer, and pour in the pasta sauce. evaporate off a decent amount of fluids, and then add another half bottle of beer. drink the rest. stir well, and serve over pasta.

drink the rest of your beer.

New to the community, so I thought I'd introduce myself with two of my most recent cocktail creations:

Deep Blue Sea

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

well, it's almost aquamarine, it looks like the ocean.(1 msr Vodka, 1 msr Blue Curacao, dash of lemon and lime juices, cranberry and rasberry juice all shaken over ice and strained)

and...

Purple Haze

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

compromising of: 1 measure vodka, 1 measure Blue Curacao, half measure grenadine, shaken over ice and strained into a cocktail glass (Or you can add a lot of cloudy lemonade with ice and serve in a tall glass).

Enjoy!
